You Can't Take the Sky From Me

Here's to hoping your holidays went well. My favorite gift of the season and my Hot Link of the month has got to be the FireFly DVD

FireFly, for the uninitiated, is/was Joss "Buffy" Weadon's short run Sci-Fi Western. Set five hundred years in the future, the crew of the Firefly-class spaceship "Serenity" will take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table.

But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space.

They only got to make 15 episodes before FOX pulled the plug, but I assure you that it had nothing to do with a lack of quality. (in fact, part of me thinks it had more to do with conservative FOX honchos getting their panties in a bunch over the whole "rebels=good/conformists=bad" themes). It had top notch special effects (Emmy wining in fact - Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series, 2003). Add to that superb writing, direction, and set design. Not to mention some of the most believable acting I have ever seen on TV, Sci-Fi or otherwise.

Rent it... Buy it... whatever it takes... just SEE IT. you owe it to yourself to see what American Televison could be if only the mother-humping Tyen-shung duh ee-DWAY-BUN-RO at foxcorp pulled their heads out of their goram HOE-tze duh PEE-goo once and a while.

P.S. "FireFly: The Movie" is already in production. YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH!

Alton Brown Rocks!

Hi All... I just got this in my In Box

Hi Cheyenne,

Just wanted to say I really dug the Alton "zombie". It's probably the closest any artist has ever come to capturing the "real me". And you know what, brains are good eats, especially with caper butter.

Would you mind if I posted your art on my website, altonbrown.com? I'd give credit where it's due.

Best Regards,

Alton Brown

Alton Brown is for the uninitiated, the creator and host of the single best cooking show I have yet to see. the show is called Good Eats and I encourage you all to watch it. the Alton "zombie" he mentions is this

Happy Halloween!

Have a safe and fun weekend all... and keep your eyes out for the zombies

Dont think Zombies are a threat? Take a gander at this Zombie Infection Simulation v2 or this one Zombie Infection Simulation v2.3 and lastly, this one Zombie Infection Simulation 3d

"but" i hear you saying "zombies arn't real". HAH! Fools! read the Zombie Survival Guide and if that doen't do it for you browse the The Federal Vampire and Zombie Agency

Now i don't like playing the role of an alarmist. But the makers of the Zombie Alert do.

Now to try to take the edge off the discovery that the undead shuffle among us... how about Zombie Porn?... Zombie chick are Hot! -- sorta... never mind.

How about finding out what kind of Zombie are you?

And if all this failed, turn to booze.

BOO!

"Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries." - 1796-97 Treaty with Tripoli - Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, haven seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation.

Ok I don't do this too often but here's a major peice of information from Michael Moore...

"My wife and I were invited over to a neighbor's home 12 days ago where [General Wesley] Clark told those gathered that certain people, acting on behalf of the Bush administration, called him immediately after the attacks on September 11th and asked him to go on TV to tell the country that Saddam Hussein was "involved" in the attacks. He asked them for proof, but they couldn't provide any. He refused their request."

All sorts of neat stuff in the works. I'll try to keep this updated better... really i mean it!

* First, I am still working hard on 50 Fathoms soon to be out from Great White Games
* And i'm finishing up an art order for Weird Wars: Tour of Darkness
* Meanwhile I'm helping out on a game proposal. it's cool it involves choppers (the two wheeled kind) more on that as it develops.
* My cards will be availabe REAL soon from PEG (I'll post a link as soon as they are!)
* And I met Greg Rucka today. Very nice man.

Afraid of the Dark? You Should Be!

Evernight is out and should be in stores next Monday! It's available at PEG's online store right now! OR... grab the 40-page Player's Section from Evernight for 6 bucks. It's available on RPGNOW.COM. This way players have everything they need without having to buy another copy or sharing. The GM can also preserve his book--and hide his secrets--without having to pass the only copy around. Best of all, they're including a "site license" for you to print and hand out the Player's Section to all the player characters in your game!... oh ... AND IT'S FULL OF MY ART!!!!

Savage Worlds is hitting stores and peoples doorsteps as we speak. Feedback is good all around, and I have a great deal of faith that this system will change the way you want to game. I have never paid much attention to all-genre games. I wrote them off as "crowded". Crowded full of special rules that have limited use -- Crowded full of pointless sections on subjects that will never come up in my games -- Crowded full of complicated character creation laws that micro-manage every point and sap the very life out of a session. All resulting in a game that is never FAST, rarely FURIOUS, and seldom FUN. I am very proud of my involvement in Savage Worlds and I hope that you all give it a try.

More on the Savage Worlds Action Deck
FROM ZEKE SPARKS
"Getting to color Cheyenne's great art work for the Action Deck has been a real treat! His images are so strong and lively that they practically color themselves. It was rare that I had to re-think my original color pallet for any of these pieces.
The deck is split into four different genres (one for each suit) Fantasy for Spades, Pulp for Hearts, Sci-fi for Diamonds and Modern Horror for Clubs. Each face card and each ace gets it's own illustration....."
Get the Rest Here

Aww... I love you to Zeke.

Ooo Boy! Savage Worlds gets ever closer. Release date is March and the fiddly bits are getting finalized like this....

Looks like I got the cover! Using color versions of the black and white art I did for the Savage World Action Deck, Zeke over at Pinnacle has made the all genre collage cover for the game... I'm so proud.
